Expenses
MMYW
Virtual assistant and staff writing: $0. The VA now goes to Savvy Scot, and the posts I had bought in bulk last year are still scheduled in the editorial calendar.
RFI
$0.
SAVVY SCOT
VA and staff writing $275. I gave the VA a raise in July after a year of service. She has been looking for more hours, so if you need one let me know
EXPENSES TOTAL $275. I will try to keep expenses low for the next couple of months.
Income
RFI
$2,042 This is a mix of Adsense, affiliate sales, and direct advertising, plus a little income I got from my ad referral network’s commissions. Contact me if you are interested in joining the ad network!
Adsense was a bit down this month, affiliate did well, and a writing gig helped push revenue over $2,000.
MMYW
$1,210. Traffic slowed down a bit after last month’s $500 giveaway, but revenue remained pretty much the same. I am implementing new things starting next month, like changing the posting schedule, promoting posts more on social media, etc. Let’s see in a month if the efforts will pay off.
SAVVY SCOT
$2,495. And… we’re back! Summer was slow on SS but this is a solid income, the best of all three sites, as it was in Q2. I want to network more with UK bloggers and see if we can help each other out, but need to stop procrastinating on that one. I have a different relation to SS since I bought it so I am not as attached and worried about it. Yet it performed better than the other two again! It’s like when a chicken dies and BF tells me it is because I protected it too much it couldn’t face the harshness of nature. Maybe I need to let the other two more on autopilot?
TOTAL $5,747. Not the best month, but up $800 from last month *happy dance*! As usual, 10% will be donated to my charity projects, that is $574.
My goal is to make $60,000 blogging this year, I should be at $45,000 so far and am at $49,746. I have averaged $5,547 over the past 9 months, when the goal was $5,000 so it is looking promising for the next three months.
After Costs Total
$5,472 I am happy to be back over the $5,000 mark.
10% of blogging income will go to sponsor young girls’ education in my village. I have spent most of my money as per the last update, and I am in the process of making a website for the orphanage I gave school supplies and toys to last month, which will add to this month’s spending on high school tuition and computer classes for the kids. THANK YOU for helping keep this site what it is and contributing to its monthly income!

A couple more DA points, which is always good news, and RFI is the only site that grew this month in terms of views, albeit just a bit. It gained quite a bit of followers with the giveaway.

Blog stats for Savvy Scot
A little drop in visitors after the giveaway buzz, but I also only published two posts a week so that may not have been so good too. I have built a queue of posts until November which I am pretty proud of (although I know a few bloggers who have 150 posts in queue so that’s nothing compared to them!), but I may go traveling soon so I don’t want to publish 3-4 posts a week and then have no queued content as I am away.

Great month. Congrats on the income. Can’t be easy managing that many sites!
It is a bit of a mess re editorial calendar, if I want to give exposure to all posts without overwhelming readers but other than this it is not much different from having one site where you post a lot.
Well done Pauline, and good to see you giving some back. I’m sure this will help you earn more, as your subconscious mind knows the more you earn the more you can give, plus… you deserve it!
It’s funny, I’ve experienced this myself at times – when you leave websites alone a bit more, they sometimes do better. Maybe the search engines can detect too much meddling, and penalise this?

That’s a possibility, like hyperactivity on a site can be a red flag. It is frustrating though.
What a great month! I just started my blog last month. It is so new I don’t have a domain name or self-hosting yet, so it isn’t growing in terms of dollars and cents, however, I have gained several followers on twitter over the last few days and through wordpress. So I’m getting there… very, very slowly. 🙂

It does take time, but if you are serious about it I’d recommend going self hosted right away. It is a pain to move later.
I explain a bit here https://makemoneyyourway.com/migrate-for-5-or-less/ you can have it done for you on Fiverr and you need to pay a $12-15 a year domain and $60-100 a year hosting. On Black Friday there is often 75% off hosting so you could have a look then.
Hi Pauline, Congrats on your awesome progress and thanks for posting so much detail about your sites. I’m new to the blogging world and it feels overwhelming at times but you’ve inspired and motivated me to keep moving forward. Thanks again!

Thanks Kate! It takes time to take off but worth it over the long time.
Hmmm I’m really intrigued about the whole UK blog scene. There seems to be more advertisers and more potential there versus other markets (like the US). I’m really tempted to start or purchase a UK blog…
