Welcome to the 16th blog income and stats recap of MMYW! October was a weird month, I was traveling for about 10 days, and after overcoming my breakup decided to start building a new house which is taking quite a bit of my time and energy, I am back into running an hour every other day and feeling more productive thanks to that, but haven’t put much of that productivity into the blogs. Still, as you will see below, it was a good month.
Check previous income and stats recaps:
November income $2,697 + 10% of Savvy Scot’s purchase price
December income $4,625 + 45% of Savvy Scot’s purchase price
January Income $3,290 + 45% of Savvy Scot’s purchase price
Expenses
VA and staff writing $275. I gave the VA a raise in July after a year of service. She has been looking for more hours, so if you need one let me know
EXPENSES TOTAL $275. I had a few plans to invest in my sites but no time to do so, so the projects are postponed at the moment.
Income
RFI
$2,605 This is a mix of Adsense, affiliate sales, and direct advertising, plus a little income I got from my ad referral network’s commissions. Contact me if you are interested in joining the ad network!
Best affiliate month so far, which was great since the ad network income pretty much dried up, again due to lack of time for making it work.
MMYW
$2,495. MMYW had a great month. I have been implementing new things, like changing the posting schedule, promoting posts more on social media, etc. and apparently, it paid off. Now I need to find the time to do the same on all sites.
SAVVY SCOT
$2,515. An average but still solid month for SS, the site that I left alone the most. I have been putting some content I am proud of on it, but done little more for a while, and it deserves more attention. Probably will have to wait until the new year as I have some tough weeks ahead.
TOTAL $7,615. Best month ever! I am glad all three sites performed well this month, instead of one over performing two average ones.
My goal is to make $60,000 blogging this year, I should be at $50,000 so far and am at $57,361. I have averaged $5,736 over the past 10 months, and since we are already well into November, am happy to report that the goal has been met!
After Costs Total
$7,340 I am happy to be back over the $5,000 mark.
10% of blogging income will go to sponsor young girls’ education in my village. I have spent most of my money as per the last update, and I am in the process of making a website for the orphanage I gave school supplies and toys to in August, which will add to this month’s spending on high school tuition and computer classes for the kids. THANK YOU for helping keep this site what it is and contributing to its monthly income!

Awesome work! Nice to see consistency across the three sites. It must be good to look back at last year and see how your income has increased for the same months from one year ago!
Keep up the good work Pauline – all thoroughly deserved!! 🙂

Just find products you love, not the ones everyone pitches, and it will come easy to write about them.

At first I was impressed by how much money the 3 sites earned. But then further into the article I noticed you are averaging over 1000 people per day per site! Those are some pretty great traffic numbers. What would you say is the biggest contribution to this?

haha so the income sucks for the traffic? 🙂 I have a few posts that do pretty well in SEO, most of the time my most trafficked posts are from google traffic, not from the post of the day. It is good because the site doesn’t suffer much if I post less.

Anne @ Money Propeller says
I have Money Propeller’s blog earnings for October going up this week…. hopefully I am a lot faster on the draw with November’s numbers.
I’ve finally cracked into making a little bit of income, but the pageviews are not as high as I would have hoped at this point. I’m going to have to spend some more time promoting things, I think.

You can try reddit, it brings good waves of traffic although not always quality one.

Been thinking of letting it go of my idea of blogging ’cause of a combination of missing time and resources (main job takes more than I was thinking of, but surely the kids do take a lot more than forecasted hahaha !)
Also read a lot these past weeks that blogging alone (without selling a product directly) was time consuming (this we knew) but not worth the $
You re just proving them wrong and that s great example to follow
Pauline says
It was time consuming at first, now with an assistant and most things on autopilot, it takes on average a couple of hours a day I’d say, which makes for a pretty cool hourly rate.
Steven @ buyingstocks says

Hey Pauline! Congrats on another amazing month! My site got a small hit from the last Panda update so my SEO traffic has taken a hit as a result. Were you impacted by the Panda update in late September?
Pauline says
Thanks Thomas, I don’t think so, my SEO traffic has been pretty steady.
Thomas @ i need money ASAP! says
That’s good. I’ve made some changes to my site that I hope will help me the next time Panda updates. Increased speed, reduced the number of ads, improved usability and decreased bounce rates. We’ll see if it helps 🙂

I think Savvy Scot has better odds, because the UK niche is smaller and it ranks really well with little competition, and the things I write about over there are broader. RFI does well but it is harder to get people interested in expat life and Guatemala than general saving tips.
