Welcome to the 8th blog income and stats recap of MMYW! I spent the first two weeks of February in Miami so things were pretty slow as I was barely online, then the end of the month was quite busy once I got back home. Check previous income and stats recaps: July income $4,042 August income $2,530 September income $3,307 October income $3,570 November income $2,697 + 10% of Savvy Scot’s purchase price December income $4,625 + 45% of Savvy Scot’s purchase price January Income $3,290 + 45% of Savvy Scot’s purchase price
Expenses
MMYW
Virtual assistant and staff writing: $0. The VA now goes to Savvy Scot, and I had stocked up on posts on Q4 2013.
RFI
Total $0. Love those months…
SAVVY SCOT
VA and staff writing $282. I moved the VA costs over there as most of the 20 hours per week are spent optimizing the new website. I also bought a couple of posts. EXPENSES TOTAL $282. The plan is to keep it around the $300 mark for next month as well.
Income
RFI
$3,495 This is a mix of Adsense, affiliate sales, and direct advertising, plus a little income I got from my ad referral network’s commissions. Contact me if you are interested in joining the ad network! It was a good month for RFI.
MMYW
$1,425. Another low month for MMYW but still over my $1,000 target so no complains here.
Savvy Scot
$2,425. Like RFI, Savvy Scot had a good month, and I am updating old posts with UK affiliate links so I am hoping for it to keep it up. TOTAL $ 7,345. I am taking $1,000 out from that sum to cover 4 months of VA invested in Savvy Scot, that I consider part of my breaking even costs, and will donate 10% of $6,345 to charity this month, or $634
After Costs Total
$7,063. Best month ever, thanks to the third website bringing in a good chunk of the income. With $3,290 in January, I have a cumulated $10,635 so far for 2014, on track for my goal to make $50,000. 10% of blogging income will go to sponsor young girls’ education in my village, my education fund now had $2,371 for the past 7 months + $2,550 reader donations + $634 for January = $5,555. Cool number 🙂 Minus $2,196 that I spent on back to school uniforms, books, and boarding school for the best two middle school students who will go to high school for the next three years. The full spending recap is there, and I am going to visit boarding school soon to check it out. Left in the fund: $5,555 – $2,196 = $3,359 I bought a few laptops in Miami for the kids and some other stuff so will update soon on that.
Blog stats for RFI
Pageviews are back up since I came back from Europe/Belize/Miami/too much time offline, which is good news but I am trying to improve search traffic so I don’t depend so much on being there or not.

Blog stats for MMYW
MMYW keeps growing slowly but surely. I am happy pageviews are up since I reduced the posting schedule quite a bit. At that point one year ago, RFI was finally doing well, I was out of my cave, had decent stats and started making $2,000 a month and up.

That’s some amazing progress. I’m personally not happy with the progress of my fitness site. Do you have any tips on how one would grow a fitness blog?

No growth at all. I have 3 regular readers who are not bloggers and not my relatives and that might be all I ever get but they enjoy reading my stuff so I will keep plugging away.
I made 10 cents in February and I may have to hire someone who knows how things work to actually advance but I don’t really have any spare cash to drop on what may just remain a hobby.
Great progress for you. Time for a how to blog book from you I think?

Haha I prefer to make posts and don’t have the discipline to make a book. Plus I am a terrible seller so would give it away for free, which is what I do with blog posts anyway, so I will keep it that way.
Daisy @ Prairie Eco Thrifter says
Congrats, you are able to reach a high level of income almost right away. You must be very pleased! My traffic, affiliate income and stats in general are growing. I am trying to shift almost completely to affiliate income. It’s nice because Adsense has really increased lately too.

Great work Pauline! I had a pretty good month myself, a record if not very close, so I was pretty happy with that. Now I just need to find me a site to buy. 🙂

I am always so impressed with your income and stats. Damn. You work it girl, keep it up! My blog is slowly growing. This month I had the highest views in a while, but low on comments for a particular post. I didn’t know you bought Savvy Scot. Good to know!

Awesome job with the Savvy Scot website and with the other two. Do you think you’ll add other websites or is there a limit to what you have time for?

Pauline says
No I don’t think so. I am already around 3 hours a day on them and want to keep my days free. If I found a way like some bloggers to have two months of posts in my queue maybe but whenever I hit a month I stop writing until I run out of posts, so that’s not viable for multi site ownership.
Raquel@Practical Cents says
Congrats on your progress. Definitely something to aspire too.

I appreciate the detail you go into with these posts. Also it makes me really want to buy another site and/or start another site! Definitely has been on my mind for a while now. It seems like it wouldn’t be much harder to make ad deals for 2 or 3 sites versus just one site. I’ll have to think about this…

It didn’t grow that much, or what meet my expectations, so I’m a little disappointed. At least I learned something, and that is to no expect too much on the first few months. Again.
