How I made $100,000 from Amazon last year. Now, the best part is because of a program called “Fulfilled By Amazon” (FBA), Amazon will store and even ship your items when they sell! This was the answer I needed!

Morning! Today I am having Jessica who mastered the art of selling stuff online, enjoy! Let me know if you would like to share your favorite side hustle in a guest post.

When I first started selling online I was an eBay seller. I needed to replace my lost income, and do it quickly. So, I started buying items from thrift stores and yard sales for cheap and then flipping them for good profit on eBay. This was in 2010. I was able to make over $1,000 profit in my first month of ramping it up.

How I made $100,000 from Amazon last year. Amazon offers a selling platform where the product catalog is already up and running, so you basically find the item you are wanting to sell and then list it there.

My biggest hurdle was the time that it took to list the items and then ship them out once they sold. There was never a shortage of products that could be resold. I needed a solution that could save me some time. This is when I stumbled upon selling on Amazon.com. Amazon offers a selling platform where the product catalog is already up and running, so you basically find the item you are wanting to sell and then list it there. Now, the best part is because of a program called “Fulfilled By Amazon” (FBA), Amazon will store and even ship your items when they sell! This was the answer I needed!

How I made $100,000 from Amazon last year

I can now sell 15x as much as I could before, but in the same amount of time. I get to focus on the part I love, which is finding profitable items. I let Amazon handle the grunt work. They get great traffic, so no need to buy google ads or anything like that.

I still shop yard sales & thrift stores to get inventory. The main things I am looking for are items that are still brand new, in their original unopened packaging. It is amazing how cheaply you can pick up new items from these places. I find brand new board games for $1-$2 that can be sold for $25 on up. New household appliances, like crockpots for $4 to sell for $45.

I have a app on my phone called “Profit Bandit”, this is how I can check the value of items before purchasing them. That way I know I can sell them for a profit, before investing any money in them. This app has a one time download fee of $14.95, and is well worth the initial investment. You can scan the UPC barcode of any item you find and instantly find out the current selling price on Amazon, and see what your payout amount would be after Amazon’s fees.

It has never been easier to get started making money on Amazon than it is right now!

You can test the waters with items in your own house. Take a look in your cupboards and game closet to see what you have that is still in the original packaging. Then look those items up on Amazon and see what they are selling for. If they have been sitting around for awhile, you may be surprised that you can sell some things for more than you originally paid for them. Most people find that they have a couple hundred dollars worth of items in their own home that they are not getting any use out of.

It has been almost 3 years that I have been selling on Amazon now and it has turned into a family business. We sold $275,000 on Amazon in 2012 and are on track for the same this year. Of course, this is not all profit. But, take away our cost of goods and seller fees, we netted almost $100,000 profit. Not bad for 2 work from home parents working part time flipping stuff on the internet.

    Nice! Never heard of the FBA program before. I use to be an affiliate of Amazon but then they started cancelling the states that could participate due to the taxing issues. Having to shop for and store inventory then ship is the time consuming part but nothing like having to upload those photos and descriptions as Ebay. Great work on the business.

    I think this is a fascinating career. I flipped some yard sale items once for a profit, and I loved it. I could see how addictive it could become. The problem is living in a rural area. I don’t think there is enough quality sales around here to make a ton of money, but it might be something to check into for a side income. I was not aware of how easy Amazon is. Thanks for sharing.

    I have never really scored anything good at our local thrift shop but I bet I’d do better driving to the ones in the nearest big town. I’m sure you learn which ones are a waste of time and which you have great success with.

    I’ve been selling eBay for 2 years so far and makes $120,000 yearly. It’s all brand new women clothing.
    But I wanted to sell Amazon some unsold items on eBay. But Amazon fee is crazy. 20% almost fee.
    I’m making a good sale on eBay because price is low but I can’t sell low price and make a profit on Amazon.
    Heard many sellers don’t make any money on Amazon.
    Also eBay gets paid instantly but Amazon takes 5 business days or longer.
