Love computers but don’t love coding? There’s still a job for you. It may seem that all the best IT jobs require coding knowledge, but where does that leave the coding-challenged?
Fortunately, there are plenty of IT jobs available for people who don’t enjoy coding, and sometimes these can pay very well. Here are some of the top jobs that may interest you.
Technical Writer
Being a technical writer is one job where you won’t ever be expected to code. However, as with many of the positions in this list, having a basic knowledge of coding won’t hurt, and it can often be a big help.
Technical writers compose articles, content, brochures, press releases, and more on all aspects of IT. You may have a specialist area you write about, or you may write on all IT topics.
You could work for a company or you may decide to work freelance, and there is plenty of work available.
Every IT product requires documentation, including sales and marketing materials, and a writer with the necessary IT skills is essential for putting this together.
Graphic Designer
Graphic design is focused on art rather than coding. So if you are artistic, and you like working with computers, this could be the perfect option for you because it is a great way to combine your love of IT and your creativity.
You could specialize in one area, or you could do a bit of everything. If you enjoy web design, this could be the perfect option. And while some basic coding knowledge can help with web design, many designers do not have any programming knowledge.
Digital Marketer
IT products need to be marketed, and this is best suited to someone with an in-depth knowledge of IT. If you have the right marketing skills, you will be in high demand.
Online marketing and IT are closely connected, but you don’t need to know anything about programming. Many tech companies need experts in PPC, SEO, social media marketing, and other areas, and some will require technical knowledge.
If you have a good understanding of the IT products the companies are selling, this will give you a head start.
UX/UI Designer
Being a UX or a UI designer can be a great job for you if you love IT but you don’t enjoy coding. There is no need for coding if you work as a UX and UI designer, but having some knowledge of it can be useful.
You will have to know all about how the user interacts with the website, the program, or the app. Instead of coding all day, you will look at areas such as design and psychology, and you will test models to provide the designers with specific guidelines to improve the experience and the interface of various tech products.
IT Security Expert
There are many specialties in the IT security area, and such as protecting systems from hackers, creating secure software, specializing in viruses, or specializing in cryptography.
Coding is not required, but good training is essential. CISA Certification Training, for example, could lead to you become a security expert by proving your skills.
SEO Consultant
This can be a technical job that involves optimizing websites for search. You will be dealing with lots of data and specialist tools, and you will work with computers a lot. However, no coding knowledge is needed, making it a good option if you want to become an SEO expert.
System Administrator
System administrators are responsible for a wide range of IT tasks in an organization. You may be required to set up servers, back-up files, create firewalls, and sort out general IT problems. You may be the only one employed by a company, or there may be many of you. Some programming knowledge helps, but it is not essential.
CRO Specialist
Another off-shoot of digital marketing, conversion rate optimization combines creativity with crunching the numbers to optimize web pages for conversions. It is quite technical, in that there is a lot of testing involved, and you have to have an eye for the little details. But there is no coding involved, making it a good option.
Find Your Perfect IT Job Without Having to Code
These are just some of the jobs available in IT that do not require any coding experience. While some knowledge of coding is always useful when you are working in IT, you do not need to be doing coding every day to have a very fulfilling job in this sector.
